Women’s Golf in Sixth After Two Rounds of Thompson Invitational

Round 2 Results

KANE'OHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team completed the second round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, Tuesday, at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course. The Rainbow Wahine (306-311=617) currently sit in sixth place out of the 12 competing teams.
 
Junior Corie Hou leads UH at 148, four-over par. Hou fired two rounds of 74 and moved up two places from the first round to sit alone in fifth place. Also moving up in the individual rankings was senior Phyllis Lai (78-77=115) who was tied for 22nd after the first round but now sits in a tie for 19th place.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are senior Carolina Perez (76-81=157) who is tied for 28th, junior Erin Matsuoka (78-80=158) who is tied for 30th, and freshman Megan Ueno (82-80=162) who is tied for 47th place.
 
Carrying their team and individual leads over from the first round were Idaho (297-301=598) and Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro (69-75=144), respectively. Idaho will go into the third round with an eight-stroke lead, while Mortellaro has only a one-stroke lead over Osaka Gakuin's Nanae Shinzato.
 
The tournament concludes tomorrow, Wednesday, with the third and final round.
