HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team takes a break from conference play when it faces UC Irvine as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters event on Saturday, Feb. 21. The game, which is not part of the national television schedule, tips-off 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
This will be the third straight year that UH faces a Big West team in BracketBusters with a win at Long Beach State in 2007 and loss at UC Riverside in 2008. Hawai'i is coming off a 73-69 road win over Fresno State before a national TV audience. Junior
Roderick Flemings led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Flemings leads the team in both scoring (17.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg).
UC Irvine enters with a record of 9-17 overall, but its also coming off a huge win. The Anteaters trampled first-place Cal State Northridge at home, 73-51, to snap a three-game losing skid and improve to 6-7 in the Big West. This will the fifth all-time meeting between the teams and the first meeting in 25 years.
Following its game versus UC Irvine, the 'Bows will head back to the road for a pair of Western Athletic Conference contests at Utah State (Feb. 26) and San Jose State (Feb. 28).

”Green & White Rule The Night” - Half the crowd is being asked to wear green shirts, while the other half is being asked to wear white shirts. Oceanic Time Warner Cable is the game sponsor and the first 1,000 fans to enter the arena will receive eco-friendly tote bags, compliments of Oceanic.
Coaches: Bob Nash (24-31) is in his second year at UH. Pat Douglass (180-171) is in his 12th season as head coach at UC Irvine.
