Game Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team heads to Fresno State for a nationally-televised contest Thursday, Feb. 19. The game tips off at 8:00 p.m. PT (6:00 p.m. HT) and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Hawai'i won the first meeting on Feb. 5 in Honolulu in convincing fashion, starting the game on a 24-4 run, before defeating the Bulldogs, 69-43. Since that game UH has gone 1-1 and Fresno State 1-2. Both teams are coming off crushing defeats that had similar endings. Fresno State squandered a late seven-point lead before losing to New Mexico State, 79-71, in overtime on the road. UH, meanwhile, looked poised for its third straight home win before Nevada scored eight unanswered points to steal a 47-46 win. That loss put UH in a tie for sixth place in the Western Athletic standings at 4-8.
This will be UH's third nationally televised game this year. UH defeated Idaho State in overtime during ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon in November. The 'Bows also appeared on the Big 10 Network, while playing at Illinois in December.
Following its game versus Fresno State, the 'Bows will quickly turnaround to Honolulu to host UC Irvine on Saturday, Feb. 21 as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters event.
