Women’s Golf Tied For Eighth After Round 1 Of Aztec Invite

Round 1 Results

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is in a five-way tie for eighth place after firing a 304 Sunday on the first day of the Aztec Invitational at the Salt Creek Golf Course. The tournament is the first during the spring season for UH.
 
With only four available golfers, the Rainbow Wahine were tied with No. 30 Colorado and No. 48 Texas Tech and were three shots better than No. 40 Long Beach State. No. 24 UC Irvine leads after one day of competition after a shooting 287.
 
UH was led by senior Carolina Perez and junior Corie Hou. The two veterans shot identical rounds of one-over 73 and both are tied for 13th place individually. Also competing for UH are senior Phyllis Lai (78, T-53rd) and junior Erin Matsuoka (80, T-74th).
 
UCI's Hillary Packard is the first round leader after firing a four-under 68.
 
The tournament continues on Monday with Round 2 at the Salt Creek Golf Course.
