Warrior Golf In Third At Turtle Bay Invitational

Round 1 Results

KAHUKU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team is currently in third place after Round 1 of the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational. Playing Monday on the Arnold Palmer Course at the Turtle Bay Resort, the Warriors carded their second-best round of the season, 288 (E).
 
Freshman Cory Oride and sophomore Jared Sawada both fired a 70 to sit in a tie for third place at two-under par. For both players, 70 marks their lowest round of the season. Two strokes back, sophomore #T.J. Kua# carded a 72 (E) and is currently tied for 13th place.
 
Also competing for UH are junior Kamden Brakel who is tied for 42nd at four-over par (76), and freshman Alex Chu who is tied for 61st at 11-over par (83). Participating as individuals are freshman Henry Park (79/T53rd), sophomore Pono Calip (81/T57th), and freshman Daniel Koge (85/63rd).
 
Seven strokes ahead of the competition, San Diego State leads the team standings at ten-under par (278). Leading individually is Johan Carlsson of SDSU at five-under par (67).
 
The tournament continues Tuesday with the second round being played on the Palmer Course, followed by the third round being played Wednesday on the George Fazio Course.
