Final Results
LIHUE, Kaua'i – In their best finish of the 2009 season, the University of Hawai'i men's golf team earned fourth place at the Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational, Wednesday, at the Puakea Golf Course. The Warriors carded rounds of 289, 284, and 296 to finish at five-over par (869).
Top-finisher for UH was sophomore #T.J. Kua#, who posted the lowest round (67), lowest 54-hole score (209), and best finish (5th) of his collegiate career. Throughout the tournament, Kua was near the top of the individual leader board, consistently shooting rounds of 67, 71, and 71 to finish at seven-under par.
Contributing to the Warriors' impressive finish were sophomore
Jared Sawada (70-70-80=220/T25th), junior
Kamden Brakel (75-76-71=222/T28th), freshman
Alex Chu (78-67-78=223/T31st), and freshman
Cory Oride (77-76-76=229/41st). Participating as individuals were sophomore
Pono Calip (81-76-81=238/54th) and freshman
Daniel Koge (83-78-84=245/55th).
Defending champion and leader through all three rounds, San Diego took the team title at 35-under par (274-276-279=829). San Diego had five golfers place in the top-six spots, including individual champion Joseph Harrison who finished at 11-under par (68-68-69=205).
The Warriors close their fall season by teaming up with the Rainbow Wahine to host the eighth annual Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational, Nov. 2 through 4, at the Turtle Bay Resort in Kahuku, O'ahu.
