LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Fresh off a heart-stopping win at Louisiana Tech, the University of Hawai`i men's basketball team looks for its second straight road victory when it faces New Mexico State on Saturday, Jan. 31. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m. MT (4:00 HT) at the Pan American Center.
Petras Balocka tipped in the game-winner at the buzzer to lift UH to a 54-53 win at Louisiana Tech on Thursday night, snapping UH's season-long five-game losing streak. The win also ended a 10-game road losing streak, dating back to last year. The 'Bows (10-10, 2-6 WAC) will be playing on the road for the fifth time in its last seven contests when they face the Aggies on Saturday night. UH will be seeking its first-ever win in Las Cruces, having lost on three straight occasions since NMSU joined the WAC.
The game will feature the league's top two scorers in New Mexico State's Jahmar Young (18.0 ppg) and Hawai`i's
Roderick Flemings (17.0 ppg). Flemings led UH with 17 points in its win at Louisiana Tech. Young exploded for 32 points in New Mexico State's 89-81 home win vs. San Jose State as the sophomore spearheads the WAC's top scoring offense (77.1 ppg).
Following its game at New Mexico State, the 'Bows will return to Honolulu for three straight home games, beginning with a meeting vs. Fresno State on Feb. 5.
