Game Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team embarks on its longest road trip of the year when it heads east for a pair of games at Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State. First up for the Rainbow Warriors are the Bulldogs on Thursday, Jan. 29. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m. CT (3:00 HT) at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The 'Bows (9-10, 1-6 WAC) are on the tail end of a schedule that has them playing five of seven games on the road. UH has lost its previous three WAC road games at Idaho (68-48), Boise State (54-49) and Nevada (74-63). UH now heads to Ruston, searching for its first road win of the year and looking to snap a five-game slide.
The contest will be a rematch of the Jan. 5 meeting between the teams in Honolulu, a game won by UH, 65-64. That was UH's last win and its sole victory in the WAC thus far as junior
Bill Amis buried a jumper with seven seconds left to lift the Bows. Amis tied his season-high with 17 points in UH's last game vs. Utah State.
Louisiana Tech (8-12, 2-5 WAC) has also struggled as of late. The Bulldogs sit just one game ahead of the 'Bows in the WAC standing after dropping five of its last six games. The Bulldogs are led by junior guard Kyle Gibson (14.5 ppg)
Following its meeting with the Bulldogs, the 'Bows will head to Las Cruces for a meeting with New Mexico State on Saturday, Jan. 31.
