Berton Leads UH After Day 1 of Tucker Invite

Day 1 Results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded rounds of 301 and 315 after the first day of the William H. Tucker Invitational Friday at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course. The Warriors are currently in 15th place at 616 (+40).
 
Junior Robert Berton leads the Warriors with a two round total of 147 (+3) after rounds of 69 and 78. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native was tied for seventh after his three-under 69 first round but finished the day tied for 25th overall. Freshman #T.J. Kua shot consecutive rounds of 77 and is at 10-over 154. Other Warriors participating are sophomore Kamden Brakel# (77-80), senior Chase Bingham (78-87) and Daniel Soglanich (88-80).
 
Host New Mexico leads the team standings after rounds of 277 and 287. UNM's Brandon Putnam, who is competing as an individual, leads the tournament at six-under 138. Among the Lobos' five scored golfers, four are in red figures.
 
The tournament's final round is scheduled for Saturday at the Championship Course.
