Rainbow Wahine Still in 13th After McGuire Invitational Round 2

Round 2 Results

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team held on to 13th place after round two of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, Friday, at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course. The Rainbow Wahine are tied with fellow Western Athletic Conference member New Mexico State heading into Saturday's final round.

As a team, UH shot a 20-over par 312 on Friday improving two strokes from Thursday's opening round.

Individually, senior Carolina Perez led the way with a two-over par 74 and is tied for 22nd with a two-round score of four-over 150. For much of the day, Perez was in red numbers until the eighth and ninth holes, her final two of her round, which she bogeyed. The Ibague, Columbia native shot 2-under through her first nine holes of the day before bogeys on her Nos. 10 and 11.

Junior Corie Hou also shot two-over 74 on Friday and is tied for 25th with a two-round score of five-over 155. Other Rainbow Wahine participants include freshman Kelcie Kawano (79-78-157), junior Erin Matsuoka (82-86-168) and senior Phyllis Lai (82-88-170).

Pepperdine and host New Mexico are tied for the team lead at one-over 585. At five-under par, UNM's Jodi Ewart (72-69-141) leads the tournament by one stroke over Pepperdine's Jayvie Agojo (71-71-142), the first round leader.

The tournament concludes on Saturday at the UNM Championship Course.
