SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i coed and women's teams competed at the St. Francis Intersectional this past weekend with the coed squad finishing in second place out of 31 teams. Host Stanford won the regatta by a comfortable 29-point margin.
A total of 31 teams in both coed and women's competed in the two-day regatta. Twenty-two races were completed in two divisions. The coed squad's second-place finish was powered by the strong performance of skippers Andrew Meade and Will Petersen and crew Pam Magasinn in the B division. The trio finished with 61 points, falling just two points short of claiming the division. Mike Scott and Jackie McLoughlin finished in fourth place in the A division.
A total of 10 women's squads competed in the regatta. The Rainbow Wahine finished fourth among the women and 12th overall with 305 points. Hannah Tuson-Turner and Danielle Hull sailed in the A division (17th place), while Becky Mabardy and Darla Baldwin sailed in the B division (11th place).
Next up for the coed team is the Pacific Coast Sailing Conference Championships, April 11-13, in Long Beach, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine will host the PCCSC Women's Championship, April 19-20, at Keehi Lagoon.
