Day One Results
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team opened the Western Athletic Conference Tournament with a score of 324, holding ninth place after the first day at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club Monday.
Robert Berton leads the Warriors at four-over-par, tying for 12th. Cody Pewarchuk is tied for 35th with an opening-round 81, followed by Kyle Walters, tied for 37th with an 82, Ryan Perez, shooting a 85 to hold 44th, and Kamden Brakel, shooting 86 to hold 45th.
New Mexico State holds the team lead at two-under-par. Boise State (+9) is in second, followed by Fresno State (+17), San Jose State (+19), Nevada (+20), Idaho (+21), Louisiana Tech and Utah State (+23) and UH (+36).
NMSU's Joshua Stewart leads the way individually at five-under-par. Boise State's Troy Merritt (-4) is in second, followed by NMSU's Kevin Lozares (-3) and three players at one-over-par.
The tournament continues with a single round tomorrow.
