HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team concluded it regular season at home with a convincing 6-1 victory over Hawaii Pacific, Tuesday at the UH Tennis Complex. UH improved its record to 5-10 on the 2008 season with its third straight win.

Hawai'i Pacific (17-1), ranked No. 10 in the latest ITA Division II singles rankings, entered the match undefeated through its first 17 matches of the season. But the Rainbow Warriors made quick work of the Sea Warriors, handing HPU its first loss of the year by winning all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches.

UH swept all three doubles matches, including a dominating 8-0 win by the duo of Andreas Weber and Sascha Heinemann over Mark Mestan and Anton Samuilau on the No. 1 court.

In singles play, the Rainbow Warriors clinched victory by winning all but one match, including a pair of wins by No. 108 Heinemann and Spence Mendoza via super tie-breaker. Both Heinemann and Mendoza dropped the first set in their respective matches, only to come back to win the second match and the ensuing super tie-breaker. Weber, Dennis Lajola and Jeff Fitch each won in straight sets. HPU picked up its only point of the match with Nikola Petrov's 6-2, 6-0 win over Craig Faulk at the No. 4 court.

The Rainbow Warriors now head to Las Cruces, N.M. for the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Championship, April 24-27.
