Warriors Finish Southern Highlands Collegiate In 14th Place

LAS VEGAS - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team (308-317-317-954) finished off the Southern Highlands Collegiate in 14th place at the Southern Highlands Country Club Sunday.

Ryan Perez (73-74-76-223) was UH's top finisher, tying for 24th. Travis Toyama (80-80-79-239) and Kyle Walters (75-84-80-239) both finished in a tie for 71st, with Cody Pewarchuk (80-79-82-241) finishing in 75th. Robert Berton (DQ-86-87) didn't place because of a scorecard infraction on Friday.

Host UNLV won the tournament at five-over-par. They were followed by Charlotte (+7), Georgia (+8), Southern California (+14) and UCLA (+17).

Rory Hie of USC won the individual title after posting a birdie on the first playoff hole. Hie was tied for Georgia's Hudson Swafford and Charlotte's Jonas Enander Hedin at three-under-par after 54 holes. UCLA's Erik Flores, Texas A&M's Robert Gates and Georgia's Adam Mitchell all finished just one stroke behind at two-under-par.

The Warriors will next compete in the Ron Moore Invitational in Denver from March 21-23.
