First Round Results

LAS VEGAS - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team fired an opening-round 308 to hold 14th place at the Southern Highlands Collegiate after one round Friday.

Ryan Perez posted a 73 to place in a tie for 21st. Kyle Walters was second on the team, tying for 36th with a 75, followed by Cody Pewarchuk and Travis Toyama, tied for 66th with opening-rounds of 80. Robert Berton was disqualified for a scorecard violation.

Southern California leads the way at the tournament at three-under-par. UCLA and host UNLV are tied for second at even-par, followed by Charlotte and Georgia, tied for fourth at one-over-par.

UNLV's Matt Kinsinger and Charlotte's Jonas Enander Hedin are tied for individual lead. They are followed by Matthew Giles and Jamie Lovemark of USC and Creighton Honeck of Arizona (-3).

The tournament continues tomorrow with UH's players starting off at 9:12 p.m.
