Rainbow Wahine Fall To Wolf Pack, 5-2, In WAC Tennis

HONOLULU - University of Hawai'i sophomore Sophie Kobuch continued her solid play this season but her Rainbow Wahine tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Nevada Saturday in a Western Athletic Conference match-up at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Wolf Pack grabbed the early lead after winning all three doubles matches including a tight 8-7 (9) tiebreak victory by Maria Mizyuk and Caroline Bailly over Kobuch and Chloe Bihag.

In singles play, Kobuch, a Tourneville, France native who's ranked No. 88 in the latest ITA rankings, won her team-leading ninth singles match after a 7-5, 6-3 win over 59th-ranked Mizyuk at the No. 1 court.

Freshman Jennifer Goldman picked up UH's other singles win, a 6-0, 6-2 win over Audrey Bardot at No. 6

Nevada won the other four singles matches all in straight sets.

The Rainbow Wahine will next host UCLA, Tuesday, March 25. First serve is 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
