First Round Results

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team shot an opening-round 288 to place 10th at the Ron Moore Invitational on the Palm Valley Golf Club Friday.

Kyle Walters was the top UH performer, tying for ninth after shooting 69 in the first round. Robert Berton posted a 71 to tie for 23rd, with Travis Toyama and Kamden Brakel tying for 50th with opening rounds of 74. Ryan Perez ended up in a tie for 66th, shooting 76.

San Diego holds the first round lead after shooting 277 as a team. The Canadian Developmental team is in second at 279, followed by Kansas State (280), and Denver, Iowa State and Northern Iowa (284).

Boise State's Troy Merritt is tied with Mathieu Rivard and Darren Hupfer of the Canadian Developmental Team for first at six-under-par. They are followed by Southern Utah's Nate Page (-5) and four players tied for fifth at four-under-par.

The tournament continues tomorrow with the final round on Sunday, March 23.
