STOCKTON, Calif. - The fourth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's water polo team successfully opened its 2008 campaign with a 22-8 blowout of Pacific, Wednesday, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. The Rainbow Wahine began a stretch of seven matches in five days.
Lisa van Raalte and Angela Turnbull each paced UH (1-0, 1-0 MPSF)with four goals a piece while Emily Cox and Kelly Mason added three goals each.
The Rainbow Wahine led 6-2 after the first period and 13-3 at the half. A total of nine different players found the net for UH. Serena Bredin and Sara Gralitzer split time in goal with Bredin recording eight saves and Ingram two.
Hawai'i will next travel to fifth-ranked California on Thursday. The Golden Bears (4-0, 2-0 MPSF) lead the early league standings with a 2-0 mark.
