Warriors Close Out John Burns Intercollegiate In 19th Place

Final Results

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, O`ahu - The University of Hawai`i Warrior team (292-290-292-874) finished the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in 19th place at the Leilehua Golf Course Friday.

Kyle Walters (73-67-76-216) was the top UH finisher, tying for 54th. Robert Berton (74-72-73-219) and Travis Toyama (72-75-72-219) ended up tied for 70th, followed by Ryan Perez (73-76-71-220), tied for 78th, and Cody Pewarchuk (74-77-76-227).

Three UH golfers competed as individuals. Kamden Brakel (76-77-76-229) topped that list, finishing in 103rd. Chase Bingham (77-83-77-237) finished in 108th with Daniel Soglanich (90-88-94-272) ending up 110th.

Auburn shot a blistering 269 on the final day to win the tournament title at 44-under-par. Their total score of 820 broke the tournament record by three strokes. Following Auburn were Texas A&M (-33), UNLV (-32), San Diego State (-29) and Southern Methodist (-29).

Individually, Stephen Hale of California (-15) took the tournament championship. He was followed by Bronson Burgoon of Texas A&M and UTEP's Herbert Day (-13) and Auburn's Jay Moseley and Glenn Northcut, who were tied for fourth at 12-under-par.

Hawai`i will next compete at the Southern Highlands Collegiate from March 7-9.
