Rainbow Wahine Edge Wolverines 8-7 At Stanford Invite

STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i women's water polo got back on the winning track with an 8-7 victory over Michigan Sunday in its final round-robin match of the Stanford Invitational. The Rainbow Wahine will next play host Stanford for third place.

With the score tied at 3-3 at the half, UH (5-1, 2-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) outscored the Wolverines 3-1 in the third quarter. The Rainbow Wahine held off Michigan in the fourth for the victory.

Junior Kelly Mason led UH with three goals, her third straight match in the tournament with at least three goals. Freshman Carmen Eggens added two goals.

Freshman Serena Bredin had four saves in goal for the Rainbow Wahine.

Julie Hyrne and Alison Mantel each had two goals for the Wolverines.

The Rainbow Wahine will next play host and third-ranked Stanford for third place.
