Hawai`i Faces George Washington In Rainbow Classic

Game Notes
Updated Bracket

Kareem Nitoto and Adhar Mayen celebrate after a good play
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team returns to action in the 2008 Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic with a consolation match-up versus George Washington. The 'Bows and Colonials will be the fourth and final game on Monday, Dec. 29 with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Buffalo and Colorado were victorious on the second day of action to set up both the consolation and championship brackets. Vermont and Colorado State will face off in the first semifinal at 11:00 a.m., Pepperdine and Coppin State meet in the consolation bracket at 1:30 p.m. and Colorado will play Buffalo in the other semifinal matchup at 5:00 p.m.

Both UH (6-4) and GW (6-3) are coming off disappointing first-round losses. The Colonials fell to Vermont, 83-72, in the tournament's opening game. UH, meanwhile, lost in the opening round for the second straight year with a 74-58 upset at the hands of Colorado State. The 'Bows shot a season-low 33 percent from the floor, en route to their most lopsided loss of the season. The loss snapped UH's three-game win streak and also a string of six straight home wins.

This will be just the second all-time meeting between UH and George Washington with the Rainbow Warriors defeating the Colonials, 86-64, in 1989.
