Weber Qualifies at the USTA Waikoloa Futures

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i –University of Hawai'i junior Andreas Weber qualified for the main draw on day three of the USTA Waikoloa Futures, Monday, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort. The junior was one of eight players to qualify for the main draw. 
 
Weber outlasted Brock Newton of the United States in straight sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0. The junior will next play Sheeva Parbhu in the first round of the main draw. Sophomore Dennis Lajola, seeded No. 8 in the main draw, will face Chris Wettengel of the United States in the first round. Lajola earned a qualifying spot in the main draw.
 
The 16-team main doubles draw also begins on Tuesday. The Rainbow Warriors are represented by the duo of Lajola and freshman Leo Rosenberg, who will compete against the team of Chase Buchanan and Ty Trombetta.
  
The Rainbow Warriors have three players ranked in the ITA singles rankings. Heinemann is ranked No. 53. Weber is No. 76 and Lajola is ranked No. 89. Lajola leads the team with a 6-2 singles record.
 
Eight of the nine Rainbow Warriors were represented in the USTA's Pro Circuit singles and doubles tournament.  The pro circuit tournament continues throughout the week.
