Rainbow Warriors Back In Action Monday Night

Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team concludes its season-opening five-game home stand when it hosts Prairie View A&M in a non-conference match-up on Monday, Dec. 1. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

After dropping its first two games of the season, the 'Bows have won two straight at home, including an exhilarating 60-59 win over Iowa State in its last outing on Monday, Nov. 24. Bill Amis drained a pair of free throws with 2.4 seconds left to lift UH to a come-from-behind win. The 'Bows trailed by as many as 13 points with 10 minutes left and seven with just over two minutes remaining, before storming back for the win.

Prairie View A&M, meanwhile, arrives to Hawai'i with a 3-4 mark. The Panthers have played five of their games on the road, including losses at UCLA (82-58), Missouri (86-65) and Wyoming (80-75).   PVAMU's three wins have come against non-Division I teams. The teams have met once before with Hawai'i defeating Prairie View A&M, 77-59, in the 1999 Hawai'i Invitational.

The game will be the fifth home contest in a row for the Rainbow Warriors, who next travel to Illinois for its first road game on Dec. 8. UH then returns home to play eight straight homes games through early January.
