Rainbow Wahine Finish Kent Youel Invitational in 11th

Final Results

KAPOLEI, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team concluded the Kent Youel Invitational in 11th place, Wednesday, at the Kapolei Golf Course. The Rainbow Wahine (305-306-305) stayed consistent throughout the tournament, which they hosted for the 10th consecutive year, shooting a final-round score of 305 to card a total 916 at 52-over par.
 
The top finisher for UH was junior Corie Hou (76-77-69-222) who fired a 3-under par 69 in the final round to move up 21 places and finish tied for 17th. Senior Carolina Perez (73-79-77-229) led UH after the first two rounds of play, but finished seven shots back of Hou at 13-over par and tied for 38th place.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were freshman Kelcie Kawano (81-72-80-233/T50th), junior Erin Matsuoka (76-79-79-234/T53rd), and senior Phyllis Lai (80-78-81-239/T65th). Participating as individuals were two freshman team members, Megan Ueno (77-79-83-239/T65th) and Megan Inouye (91-86-84-261/80th).
 
Jane Chin of UC Irvine shot a tournament record 203 (68-66-69) and won the individual title at 13-under par. Chin also took first place at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational two weeks ago in New Mexico. Winning the team title was San Francisco (285-286-296-867) at 3-over par. USF was just eight shots off the tournament team record of 859 set by UCLA in 2004.
 
The Kent Youel Invitational marked the end of UH's fall season. The Rainbow Wahine will continue play in February at the SDSU Aztec Spring Invitational in San Diego, Calif.
