KAPOLEI, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'I women's golf team shot consistent rounds of 305 and 306 to place 12th at the Kent Youel Invitational Tuesday at the Kapolei Golf Course. Aside from the voggy haze that hovered over the island, conditions were perfect for the start of the 10th annual tournament, which is named after a longtime UH supporter.

San Francisco leads the 15-team field after firing rounds of 285 and 286 for a five-under par total and 11 stroke lead over second place New Mexico. UC Irvine's Jan Chin leads individually at 10-under with rounds of 68 and 66.

For the Rainbow Wahine, senior Carolina Perez is tied for 35th after rounds of 73 and 79. Junior Corie Hou is one shot back after posting a first round 76 and second round 77. Freshman Kelcie Kawano improved nine strokes after an 81 in the morning round with an even-par 72 in the afternoon. Both Hou and Kawano are tied for 38th heading into Wednesday's final round.

Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are junior Erin Matsuoka (76-79) and senior Phyllis Lai (80-78). A pair of UH freshmen are participating as individuals – Megan Ueno (77-79) and Megan Inouye (91-86).

The Kent Youel Invitational is in its 10th year since moving to the Kapolei Golf Course in 1999. The Rainbow Wahine have finished in the top six in each of the last two years, placing runner-up in 2006 and sixth last season.

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. HT with a shotgun start.
