Warriors Finish Tied for 17th in Sycuan Collegiate

Final Results

EL CAJON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational, Tuesday, in a tie for 17th place. During the two-day tournament played at the Willow Glen Golf Course, the Warriors carded a 298 in each of the three rounds for a total score of 894 (+30).
 
UH's top finisher was junior Robert Berton (75-70-69-214) who finished tied for 28th. Berton fired a third-round score of 69 to move up 25 places from the previous round and finish at 2-under par. Second behind Berton was freshman #T.J. Kua# (72-74-78-224) who finished in a tie for 86th at 8-over par. Also competing for the Warriors were sophomore Kamden Brakel (72-76-80-228/T99th), senior Chase Bingham (80-82-72-234/T109th), and senior Cody Pewarchuk (79-78-79-236/T114th).
 
Colorado State took the tournament's team title at 27-under par (280-276-281-837). CSU held the second place spot, behind San Diego, for the first two rounds of the tournament but took the lead in the final round, while USD finished in third place at 25-under par. Individually, Dustin Garza (71-61-68-200) of Wichita State held on to his second round lead to finish in first place at 16-under par.
 
The Warriors head to Lihue, Kaua'i next to host the Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational. The tournament will be held at the Puakea Golf Course beginning Monday, Nov. 3, and continuing on through Wednesday, Nov. 5.
