Warrior Golf Team Opens Sycuan Collegiate in 18th

Day 1 Results

EL CAJON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team is currently in 18th place after two rounds of the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational at the Willow Glen Golf Course in El Cajon, Calif. The Warriors played both rounds on Monday, carding a 298 in each, for a combined score of 596 (+20).
 
Leading for UH is junior Robert Berton (75-70-145), currently in a tie for 53rd place. Berton, who was tied for 76th after the first round, moved up 23 places after firing a 2-under par in the second round.
 
Freshman #T.J. Kua# (72-74-146) and sophomore Kamden Brakel (72-76-148) were the first round leaders for UH. Kua is currently tied for 61st and Brakel is tied for 82nd. Other competing Warriors are senior Cody Pewarchuk (79-78-157/T112th) and senior Chase Bingham (80-82-162/120th).
 
San Diego, rival school of host San Diego State, currently leads the team standings at 26-under par (276-274-550). Dustin Garza (-12) of Wichita State is the individual leader after carding scores of 71 and 61.
 
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the third and final round.
