Rainbow Wahine Finish 9th at Give ‘Em Five Invite

Day 3 Results

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team finished 9th at the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational, Wednesday, at the New Mexico State Golf Course. The Rainbow Wahine were 15th after the first round but worked their way up six places to card a final three-round score of 930 (312-305-313).
 
UH's top finisher was freshman Kelcie Kawano (76-74-77-227), who led the team in all three rounds. Kawano was tied for 29th after the first round but finished the final round in a tie for 15th after shooting 5-over par. Second behind Kawano was junior Corie Hou (79-74-79-232), finishing in a tie for 36th place.
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were senior Phyllis Lai (78-77-79-234/T41), senior Carolina Perez (79-80-78-237/T58) and junior Erin Matsuoka (81-83-81-245/T81).
 
UC Irvine won the tournament's team title at 17-over par (293-302-286-881) with its own Jane Chin winning the individual title at 4-under par (70-74-68-212). Chin was knocked out of the first place position after the second round but easily regained it after firing a final-round score of 68.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will now return home to host the Kent Youel Invitational, Oct. 28-29 at the Kapolei Golf Course, marking the end of their fall season.
