HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to national powerhouse and 13th-ranked Baylor, Sunday, at the UH Tennis Complex, in their second match of the spring season. The Rainbow Wahine's (0-2) losses have come against nationally ranked teams.
In singles play, Rainbow Wahine sophomore Sophie Kobuch earned the only win for the Rainbow Wahine, defeating Taylor Ormond, 2-6, 5-5 (15-0), ret. Kobuch improved her singles record to 2-0, both wins coming at the No. 1 position against top competition.
Rainbow Wahine newcomer Natasha Zorec lost a tough battle at the No. 4 position to Jana Bielikova, 6-4, 6-3. In doubles play, the Rainbow Wahine dropped all three matches.
The Rainbow Wahine return to action on January 15 when they will host the Spring Invitational. All matches will be held at the UH Tennis Complex.
