Rainbow Wahine Complete Day 3 Of Hawai'i Invitational

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team completed day 3 of the Hawai'i Invitational, Friday afternoon, at the UH Tennis Complex.

Rainbow Wahine sophomore Sophie Kobuch lost her first match of the 2008 season. Kobuch dropped a tough 7-5, 6-0 decision to Lauren Macfarlane of No. 19 Florida State. The sophomore is 2-1 in the tournament, defeating No. 16 Katie Rybakova of Florida State on day 1 and Alabama's top player, Tiffany Welcher on day 2. Kobuch has a 4-1 singles record on the 2008 season.

UH sophomore Marie Tanaka earned her first win of the 2008 season, dropping Kate Goff of Kansas in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. The Rainbow Wahine played only one doubles match. The duo of Jennifer Goldman and Natasha Zorec fell to Maria Martinez and Magdalena Torarczyk of Kansas, 8-2

The tournament included players from Alabama, No. 19 Florida State, Kansas, No. 56 Sacramento State, and host UH and features both a singles and doubles individual format.

The Rainbow Wahine will next play Pac 10 and No. 72 Washington on Sunday, 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
