Wilder Wins Again At Chaminade Invite

LAIE, O'ahu - University of Hawai'i senior cross country runner Chantelle Wilder captured her sixth career title and second this season at the Chaminade Invitational, Saturday, at Brigham Young-Hawai'i's grass course. Wilder won last week on the same 5K course at the BYU-Hawai'i Invitational.

The senior from London, Ontario, now has six career titles including last year's Chaminade Invite. She has two this year, three last season, and one during her freshman campaign. Wilder, formerly Chantelle Laan, paced the field with a time of 18:31, nine seconds better than last week's time.

As a team, the Rainbow Wahine placed third with 67 points, behind winner BYU-Hawai'i (38) and Hawai'i-Hilo (40).

Other UH participants included Tava Tedesco (20:06, 6th), Samantha Lotnick (21:41, 16th), Briana Goodnight (21:52, 19th) and Mallory Kurosumi (22:57, 25th). The Rainbow Wahine competed without McKenzie Wallace and Jessi Locke, both of whom are resting to prepare for next week's Big Wave Invitational.

UH will host the Big Wave Invite, Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course at the Marine Corps Base Hawai'i.
