Final Results
ST. GEORGE, Utah - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team (313-306-317-936) finished the program's first trip to an NCAA Tournament with a 14th-place finish at the NCAA West Regional at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Saturday.
Dale Gammie (79-74-77-230) and Xyra Suyetsugu (76-76-78-230) led the Rainbow Wahine, tying for 48th individually. Corie Hou (76-78-80-234) finished in a tie for 58th, with Nancy Shon (82-78-82-242) tying for 80th and Lisa Kajihara (82-78-82-242) tying for 90th.
Oklahoma State and Stanford tied for the team title at 22-over-par. Also qualifying for the NCAA Championships were Arizona State (+24), Denver (+39), Brigham Young and UC Irvine (+46), Pepperdine (+47) and New Mexico (+56), which held off WAC member San Jose State by one stroke.
Individually, Oklahoma State's Pernilla Lindberg (-7) was the top finisher. She was followed by ASU's Anna Nordqvist (E), Stanford's Mari Chun and BYU's Rachel Newren (+1) and Pepperdine's Misun Cho (+3). Long Beach State's Kay Hoey (+7) and Idaho's Kelly Nakashima (+9) both qualified for the NCAA Championships as individuals not on one of the qualifying teams.
