Rainbow Wahine In Fifth After First Round Of Peg Barnard Invitational

Day One Results

STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team shot an opening-round 301 to place fifth after the first day of the Peg Barnard Invitational Friday.

Lisa Kajihara shot an opening-round 73 to place in a tie for ninth. Dale Gammie shot a 75, tying for 21st, followed by Corie Hou, who shot a 76 to tie for 30th, Xyra Suyetsugu, who shot a 77 to tie for 33rd, and Nancy Shon, who is tied for 47th after an opening-round 80.

Denver holds the team-lead after the first round, shooting a 286. They are followed by host Stanford (287), Long Beach State (289), San Jose State (298) and Hawai`i (301).

Long Beach State's Kay Hoey opened with a 65 to hold the individual lead. She's followed by Denver's Stephanie Sherlock (69), Stanford's Lauren Todd (70) and Mari Chun of Stanford and Emily Hoeper of Denver (71).

The tournament concludes with the final round tomorrow.
