Rainbow Wahine Fall Back To Third At WAC Championships

Day Two Results

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team (299-312=611) fell back to third at the Western Athletic Conference Championships at the University Golf Course Tuesday, after holding the lead after the first round.

Corie Hou (75-74=149) is at five-over-par in fourth place, just two strokes back of the individual lead. Xyra Suyetsugu (74-79=153) is in 10th at nine over, with Dale Gammie (75-80=155) and Lisa Kajihara (76-79=155) both tied for 13th at 11 over, and Nancy Shon (75-84=159) in a tie for 29th.

Idaho had a great second round, posting a five-over-par 293 to move into first place at 26 over. They are followed by Nevada (+30), UH (+35), San Jose State (+37), Boise State (+45), Fresno State (+47) and New Mexico State (+50).

San Jose State's Erica Moston is the individual leader at three-over-par. She's followed by Kelly Burke and Heather Olmstead of Nevada (+4), Hou (+5) and three players at seven-over-par.

The tournament concludes tomorrow with the winning team earning the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Rainbow Wahine are still in the last group, going out between 9:20 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
