REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i coed sailing team put together a solid showing with a fifth place finish at the St. Francis Regatta hosted March 31-April 1 by Stanford University. After finishing 15th in its last regatta, UH finished fifth in a 24-team field.
The UH women were also entered in the field and finished 18th overall. USC won the regatta, narrowly beating out UC Irvine by three points. A total of 22 races, 11 in each division, were completed over the weekend.
Mike Scott and Jackie McLoughlin gave the strongest performance for the 'Bows finishing fifth in the A division with 79 points. Andrew Meade and Pam Magasinn
totaled 93 points for seventh place in the B division. On the women's team, Crystal Bronte and Leanne Horvitz totaled 185 points in the A division, while Becky Mabardy and Elise St. Claire finished with 202.
Next up for both the coed and women's squad is the Rainier Cup, April 14-15 in Cascade Locks, Ore.
