HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team dropped its second match in the 2007 Aloha Invitational with a 6-1 loss to No. 69 San Diego State Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Warriors dropped to 4-8 overall with their third loss in the last four days.

After dropping two of three doubles matches, the Aztecs (8-6) stormed back to win all six singles matches. The Rainbow Warriors lone point came in doubles action as they gutted out two super tiebreakers. The team of Andreas Weber and Sascha Heinemann defeated the 17th-ranked doubles squad of Markus Dickhardt and Christian Groh, 9-8 (2). Chad Faulk and Jeff Fitch clinched the UH point by outlasting the pair of Juan Gomez and Billy Timu, 9-8(7).

It was all Aztecs after that. San Diego State won all six singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-4, 6-1 victory by Dickhardt over Weber at the No. 1 court. It marked just the second loss by No. 60 Weber in 11 dual matches. The Rainbow Warriors played without its standard lineup as No. 81 Heinemann was absent from the No. 2 position. Senior Derrick Lajola played at the No. 2 and fell to Groh, 6-2, 6-2. The Aztecs closed out the day with a 6-3, 7-5 win by Robert Sabo over Spence Mendoza at the No. 6 court in what proved to be the tightest singles match of the day.

The tournament continues Sunday with San Diego State taking on California, while Hawai`i closes out the Aloha Invitational on Monday, March 26 with a match versus the No. 38 Bears. First serve is at 10:00 a.m.
