HONOLULU - The 2007 UH men's volleyball team took a break from the regular-season tonight for a blast from the past with its annual Alumni exhibition match in front of 959 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Warriors defeated the Alumni in four sets - 25-21, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-20.

In the feature match, Mike Wilton rested his senior Warriors - Brian Beckwith, Dio Dante, Eric Kalima and Lauri Hakala. The Alumni, co-coached by Greg Hunt (1966-70) and Malu Sagiao (1978-81), featured past greats Costas Theocharidis (2000-03), Jason Ring (1996-97), Curt Vaughan (1994-97), Eyal Zimet (2000-03), Sivan Leoni (1995-98), Torry Tukuafu (2000-01), Maulia La Barre (2001, '04-6), Troy Hotz (1995-96), Kai Kahale (1995-97), Kahinu Lee (1996-97), Ryan Woodward (2002-04) and Hans Stolfus (1997).

In the first match of the night, a group of Alumni mainly comprised of former players from 1950-80s participated in a race to 20 points. Manny Relator (1959) directed the White squad to a 20-11 win over the Green coached by Ray Evans (1971-72). Kahinu Lee (1996-97) led the White with four kills while Jimmy Kalaukoa (1982-84) added three. Mason Kuo (1996-99) was high man on the Green with two kills.

In the second match of the night, teams made up of Alumni during the 1980-90s played two sets to 25 points. Clyde Ching (1975-78) coached the Green and Howard Matsuba (1974-75) oversaw the White. The two teams split the two sets with White winning the first, 25-19, and the Green bouncing back with a 25-19 win in set two. Troy Hotz (1995-96) led the White with a match-high 10kills followed by teammate Ryan Woodward's (2002-04) eight. Green's Pono Ma`a (1983-86) and Alex Berganio (1992) each posted seven kills while Victor Poppinga (1984, '86-88) added six.

The Warriors resume regular-season play next week hosting No. 1 Pepperdine March 8 (7 p.m.) and 10 (3 p.m.).
