Warriors In 5th After First Day Of Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team (293-281=574) hold fifth place after the first day of the Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Course Monday.

Travis Toyama (72-70=142) is the top UH individual, tying for 17th after the first two rounds. Cody Wolfenbarger (72-72=144) and Kyle Walters (73-71=144) are tied for 29th, followed by Ryan Perez (77-68=145) in a tie for 35th and Pierre-Henri Soero (76-73=149) in a tie for 52nd.

Purdue holds the lead after the first day at two-over-par. Long Beach State (+4) is in second, followed by Fresno State (+6), Washington (+13) and UH (+14).

Individually, LBSU's Brett Lederer leads the tournament at seven-under-par. Pariya Junhasavasdikul of Purdue (-6) is in second, followed by Xavier's John Streibich (-4) and Fresno State's Grant Doverspike and Kansas' Tyler Docking (-3).

The tournament concludes with a single round tomorrow.
