HONOLULU -
Ryan Hanson-Swaner netted five goals to lead eighth-ranked Hawai`i past Pacific, 18-11, today in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's water polo match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Hawai`i improved to 10-7 overall and 6-2 in the MPSF. Pacific fell to 5-12 and 0-8.
UH's Lisa van Raalte scored three of her four goals on the day in the second quarter while Brittany Dames added two of her four as UH jumped out to a 6-2 lead after one.
Hanson-Swaner notched tallied the first two of her five in the second quarter as each team scored four times apiece.
The Rainbow Wahine kept its four-goal cushion trading off goals with the Tigers in the third quarter. UH's van Raalte, Hanson-Swaner and Dames each found the back of the net in the period. UOP's Kellie Fletcher scored all three of the goals for the Tigers. Fletcher ended up with eight goals total on the afternoon to lead all scorers.
UH put the match away in the fourth quarter outscoring UOP 5-2 led by Megan O'Linn's three goals. UH goalie Danielle Ingram ended up with eight saves on the day while her counterpart Jocelyn Gray added nine.
The Rainbow Wahine host USC in MPSF action Saturday, March 17, at 4:00 p.m. at the DKAC.
