Warriors In 19th After First Day Of John Burns Intercollegiate

Day One Results

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, O`ahu - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team finished the first round of their John Burns Intercollegiate in 19th Place at 10-over-par Wednesday.

Ryan Perez is tied for 15th after shooting a first round 70. Cody Wolfenbarger shot a 73 to tie for 49th while Travis Toyama posted a 77, tying for 93rd. Pierre-Henri Soero and Kyle Walters posted 78, tying for 103rd.

Three UH golfers are playing as individuals. Cody Pewarchuk shot a first round 73, tying for 49th Ashton Herriott shot a 78 to place in a tie for 103rd. Chase Bingham posted an 81, placing 119th after the first day.

UNLV holds the tournament lead, shooting an 11-under-par as a team. Following the Rebels are Brigham Young (-9), Colorado State, Long Beach State and Auburn.

Individually, Mike Drake of Long Beach State opened with a 65 to hold the lead. He's followed by BYU's Nick Becker (-6), Frank Wrenn IV of Southern Methodist (-5) and four golfers tied for fourth at four-under-par.

Play continues tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., concluding on Friday, Feb. 23.
