HONOLULU- The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the 55th-ranked UC Irvine Anteaters (4-1), Friday at the UH Tennis Complex.

The Rainbow Wahine (1-5) jumped off to a slow start by dropping all three matches to lose the doubles point. The duo of junior Chloe Bihag and senior Florence Wasko lost a tough match to Ali Borowicz and Jayme Hu, 8-5, at the No. 3 position. Punahou School graduate Jessica Broadfoot and Kamehameha Schools graduate Heidi Kaloi teamed up to defeat Rainbow Wahine freshman Julia Hodes and senior Jacqui Williams, 8-4, at the No. 2 court.

Hawai`i lost all six matches in singles play. Hodes lost a tight, exciting battle in the third-set super tie-breaker to Inna Agababian, 6-4, 2-6, 10-4, at the No. 2 court and UC Irvine’s Clare Fermin outlasted freshman Sophie Kobuch in two close sets, 7-5, 6-4, at the No. 3 position. Bihag lost a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Kaloi at No. 4 and Williams lost to Broadfoot, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 5 position.

UH’s next match will be on the road on February 24, against UC Davis.
