Heinemann Qualifies At Waikoloa Futures

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i - University of Hawai`i men's tennis player Sascha Heinemann earned a spot in the main singles draw at the USTA Waikoloa Futures pro circuit tournament, Monday, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort.

Heinemann, an Eschwege, Germany native, ousted Laurent Colombo of France in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. The junior, seeded No. 4 in the tournament and ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason rankings, will next face Jeremiah Fuller in the first round of the main singles draw.

Rainbow Warrior sophomore Andreas Weber, ranked No. 28 in the ITA preseason rankings, lost a tough 7-5, 6-4 decision to Dennis Lajola, brother of former Rainbow Warrior and current Rainbow Wahine tennis assistant coach, Derrick Lajola.

The pro circuit tournament continues throughout the week.
