Warriors Tied For 15th At Five-Under After First Round Of Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational

First Round Results

KAHUKU, O`ahu - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team shot a five-under-par 283 to tie for 15th after the first round of the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational, on the Fazio course, Monday.

Ryan Perez shot an opening-round 69 to finish in a tie for 31st. Robert Berton ended up tied for 48th with a 70, followed by Travis Toyama (71), tied for 60th, Cody Pewarchuk (73), tied for 87th, and Kyle Walters (74), tied for 96th.

Three Warriors competed as individuals. They were Daniel Soglanich (73), Chase Bingham (77) and Kamden Brakel (79).

Tennessee shot 24-under-par to lead the way after the first round. College of Charleston (-20) is in second, followed by Pepperdine, UC Irvine and UT Arlington (-18).

Individually, Tennessee's Robin Wingardh put up a 63 to hold the first round lead at nine-under-par. He's followed by Bobby Massa of UT Arlington and Troy Merritt of Boise State (-8), and five golfers tied for fourth at -7.

The tournament continues tomorrow on the Palmer Course. Tee times start at 7:20 a.m.
