WAILEA, Maui - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team lost to national powerhouse and No. 2 Stanford, 7-0, in a mock dual match, Tuesday afternoon at the Grand Wailea Resort.
In doubles play, the duo of senior Chloe Bihag and sophomore Sophie Kobuch earned an impressive win over the team of Lindsay Burdette and Whitney Deason, 9-7, at the No. 1 position.
In singles play, the Rainbow Wahine lost all six matches. Kobuch was defeated by No. 15 Jessica Nguyen, 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 court, and at the No. 2 position, Bihag lost a competitive match to No. 16 Lindsay Burdette, 6-2, 6-3.
With only five players, the Rainbow Wahine forfeited No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. The dual match results will not count toward either team's record, however, individual results will count.
The match concluded the fall season for the Rainbow Wahine. UH will open the spring season against No. 26 BYU, January 10 at the UH Tennis Complex.
