Weber Drops Tight Three-Set Match At Honolulu Futures

HONOLULU - University of Hawai'i men's tennis player Andreas Weber was eliminated in the second round of the main singles draw at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable 2007 Honolulu Futures pro circuit tournament, Thursday, at the UH Tennis Complex.

Weber, ranked No. 28 in the ITA preseason rankings, dropped a heartbreaking three-set match to eight-seeded Christoph Palmanshoffer of Austria, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, in second round action. The loss snapped Weber's three-match winning streak. The sophomore, winner of five of his last seven, was the final Rainbow Warrior left in the tournament.

The tournament continues throughout the week and concludes with the main draw finals, Sunday, Nov. 18.

Weber and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors will next travel to Wailea, Maui to compete in a mock dual match against Pac-10 powerhouse, Stanford on Nov. 20.
