HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i men's doubles teams were ousted in the main draw at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable 2007 Honolulu Futures pro circuit tournament, Tuesday afternoon, at the UH Tennis Complex.
The dynamic duo of junior Sascha Heinemann and sophomore Andreas Weber lost a 6-3, 6-2 decision to the second-seeded team of Carsten Ball and Rylan Rizza in the first round.
The team of junior Jeff Fitch and sophomore Spence Mendoza dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to the fourth-seeded duo of Ikaika Jobe and Brad Lum-Tucker. Jobe and Lum-Tucker won the prestigious 2004 Kailua Night Doubles tournament.
In singles play, Weber and Heinemann will play first round matches in the main draw on Wednesday. Weber, ranked No. 28 in the ITA preseason rankings, will face American Brad Lum-Tucker. Heinemann, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason rankings, will compete against Dennis Lajola, brother of former Rainbow Warrior and current Rainbow Wahine tennis assistant coach, Derrick Lajola.
The tournament continues throughout the week and concludes with the main draw finals, Sunday, Nov. 18.
