Heinemann Qualifies At USTA Honolulu Futures

HONOLULU - University of Hawai'i men's tennis player Sascha Heinemann continued his hot play at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable 2007 Honolulu Futures pro circuit tournament, Sunday, at the UH Tennis Complex.

Top-seeded Heinemann, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason rankings, dropped Hong-Tae Kim of Korea, 6-4, 6-2 in third-round action of the qualifying singles draw to qualify into the main draw. The junior has won seven of his last nine singles matches.

Rainbow Warrior junior Jeff Fitch lost a tough 6-4, 6-3 decision to American Sydney Jim in second-round action. Rainbow sophomore Andreas Weber, ranked No. 28 in the ITA preseason rankings, is one win away from qualifying for the main draw. Weber will play against American Shane Templeman on Monday, 10:00 a.m.

Eight qualifiers will advance to the 64-player main draw, beginning on Tuesday. The tournament concludes with the main draw finals, Sunday, Nov. 18.
