Rainbow Wahine In Sixth After First Day Of Kent Youel Invitational

KAPOLEI, O`ahu - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine golf team (308-309-617) moved into sixth after the second round of the Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course Tuesday.

Xyra Suyetsugu (74-77-151) is leading the way for the Rainbow Wahine, tying for 16th. Carolina Perez (81-72-153) shot one of the best rounds of the tournament, posting an even-par 72 in the second round, to move up to tie for 24th. Corie Hou (75-80-155) and teammate Lisa Kajihara (80-80-160) both shot eight-over-par in the second round to move each tied for 35th and 62nd, respectively, while Phyllis Lai (79-84-163) is tied for 74th.

In the individual field, UH's Erin Matsuoka (80-79-159) improved on her first round score by one stroke to move her up to 58th. Kimberley Marsden (84-77-161) shot a five-over-par after struggling in the first round to hold on to a tie for 66th.

Top-ranked UCLA (+8) increased their lead over the rest of the competition by shooting a three-over-par 291. Third-ranked Southern California (+19) is now closely trailed by California (+24). San Jose State (+37) bypassed Oregon State (+39; fifth place) to move into fourth and round out the top five.

Bruin teammates Maria Jose Uribe (-2) and Tiffany Joh (+1) are first and second atop the individual leaderboard. New Mexico State's Suterra Chanachai (+2) is in third with four players tied for fourth at +3.

The tournament wraps up tomorrow with a shotgun start at 7:20 a.m.
