No. 50 Heinemann Qualifies For Main Draw At All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - University of Hawai'i men's tennis player Sascha Heinemann earned a spot in the main singles draw at the prestigious Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships, Wednesday morning, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Heinemann, the No. 3 seed, won his third straight singles match, ousting Ricardo Soriano of host Tulsa in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6(4). The All-American Championships is one of the three major collegiate tournaments.

The Eschwege, Germany native, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason singles rankings, will play qualifier and No. 88 Dominik Daescu of Oklahoma, 8:00 a.m., Thursday in the first round of the main singles draw. Daescu, a sophomore, recorded a 13-11 record last season and won his first round match at the NCAA Championships.

Rainbow Warrior sophomore Andreas Weber, ranked No. 28, received an automatic entry into the main singles draw, and will face 34th-ranked Jerry Makowski of Texas A&M, 10:30 a.m., Thursday. Makowski, a senior, was named to the All-Big 12 first team twice and is Texas A&M's No. 1 singles player.
