Warriors Finish 13th At Sycuan Collegiate Invitational

EL CAJON, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team (306-315-304-925) finished 13th in rough conditions at the Sycuan Collegiate Invitational at the Willow Glen Course Tuesday.

Ryan Perez (76-80-72-228) came back from a tough second round to lead UH in a tie for 33rd. Kyle Walters (74-78-80-232) tied for 49th, followed by Cody Pewarchuk (77-78-79-234), tied for 67th, Robert Burton (79-83-75-237), tied for 78th, and Ashton Herriott (83-79-78-240), tied for 86th.

Wichita State (+20) shot the round of the tournament, with a 284, to overtake host San Diego State (+26) for the team-title. Missouri (+35) finished third, followed by Cal Poly and New Mexico State (+36).

Wichita State's Ryan Spears (-1) shot a 67, the lowest round of the tournament, to win the individual championship. He was followed by UC Riverside's Nick Paez (+1), David Palm of San Diego State and Tyler Sanders of Wichita State (+2), and UNLV's Matt Kinsinger (+3).

Hawai`i will next host their Turtle Bay Intercollegiate from Nov. 5-7 to close out the fall season.
